Pass the info along but please don't quit - it's more fun with more friends
Couple of problems with that... It happened right as tech support was leaving in the middle of an event. Its not like it was something that was pushed at start of event time and could be construed as a bug, it looks very intentional. Also even if it does get fixed after Monday it still impacted a ton of players in the event and needs to not only be fixed but a system wide "hey we messed up and got greedy, sorry its back to normal, take this as compensation" not that it would solve the issues for the people screwed after they put money into event, but it at least goes a step towards acknowledging it was an issue and they will step forward to take care of things.

As far as quitting over... Well thats really up to the individual. Some spent a good amount of money to buy FP before event, and if they are not taken care of I can see that as an excellent reason to abandon a game and chargeback/refund what they invested... Keep in mind that google chargebacks are usually anonymous as far as the user-devs are concerned and they just see a loss ticket (as far as I understand from seeing this happen before in other games) so players could likely refund and keep playing, but honestly if I were refunding I also would leave the game as if it was someting that bothered me bad enough to do so, theres no point in sticking around for them to do it again. (which generally happens when game developers start "tweaking" the long standing systems because they can increase profit ratios even higher if they just change one modifier)

If something works in a spesific manner for the whole lifetime of the game it cannot be considered a "bug" by the players. We all certainly see this new bug as a bug as relied feature stops working. And as such, it should be fixed.

The timing of this bug does seem like it's done intentionally, so you really feel, yet again, that that pineapple is creeping somewhere behind you...

But, you need to always remember that PA / Kabam has never ever explained how and when (and most importantly when NOT) most of the LTs work. Most of that information comes from other players. And hardly never does PA / Kabam verify any of it. Game gurus are still players even though they work as moderators here at the forums.

So yea, I'm pissed as **** and for the time being I'll keep on playing, but most definedly will take my money to Niantic in the future.

I can't understand why things like that can happen during the events which are so rarely released. I was wondering should i take my chances and buy some FP packs. But behaviour like this convince me i shouldn't because i cannot be sure that rules and mechanics of the game wont change suddenly without even a notification. It seems so unfair to do things like that in such moment! Why now? Explain to me that!? I feel like devs want to show us that they can do whatever they want no matter how community will feel about it...

          Re: Penelope Stopped Working

I think that the more likely scenario is that PA put something out there for the event related to rounding. It was not intended to nerf Penelope - that's my guess. I'm a bit surprised that they don't have anyone come in during the event and say that. But then I think, "Do they say, 'Oops!' without saying how they'll make it right?" That probably requires meetings on Monday.

It's a shame that things change during and after events. Recently they said that Overkill was not performing as expected, and they changed it. It shows that the devs don't play the game - that the product managers, testing staff, and developers either don't know what the impact of the current round of modifications is, or they're under too much pressure to ship it on deadline.

I've seen similar things in other companies. Some employees say, "You can't do that, the customers will complain." Then other employees say, "Too bad. They complain all the time anyway."

While we're criticizing PA for sloppy change management, let's realize that the ocean of outrage and complaint on the forum blunts our ability to offer constructive criticism.

I guess that in the "Internet Age" trolling is just too much fun to bother with timeworn standards of politeness. But this is one of the consequences for treating people disrespectfully.

We'll have some kind of announcement tomorrow. I'm sure that the volume will increase after that. Me, I'll be worn out from tapping.
          Just a bit analytical.

Customers have every right to criticize anything they don't like, it is their money that is being accepted.

If there is "an ocean of outrage and complaint", then the problem is clearly with the business--not the person paying the money. It's extremely simple. People don't get upset for getting a great deal, even on the internet.

If PA cannot handle criticism or find the fix... Well I guess it's not a coincidence this event bombed.

Once again it comes down to communication, I burned through my refills quickly and didn't pay attention since I was using Baron along with Penelope and Envy.

About 2 years ago, everyone was screaming we don't have events enough, we enough LTs introduced on a regular bases, as a by product I think we now have a product that is more prone to bugs and glitches.

I'm not saying it's an excuse but I don't remember releases and so many changes the first couple of years it was out.

However, I think to dismiss any paying customers complaint as just a voice in the crowd is reckless business.

The activity is down, not slightly, drastically, I don't think our empire has seen a player less than a year old in a long long time. The die hates are here, but they too will leave if things like this continue.

I don't think we're communicating here. I'm suggesting that constructive criticism is a good thing. I'm also suggesting that whining is not. This opinion of mine has nothing to do with Kabam / PA's business practices. Rather, it's about the whole culture of trolling and entitled whining that has replaced an otherwise civilized culture.

Further, I'm not suggesting that people shouldn't complain. I can ignore it just like I do with my kids. I'm suggesting that when people cross the line between constructive criticism and into complaint, they shouldn't be surprised if people ignore them. It's really hard to please all the people all the time. Whatever PA does, somebody will put on their cloak of righteous indignation and rail about it like Daniel Webster.

And PA will ignore it. We see it every day.

Carry on. I hope everyone's crates come up epics and their scratchers come up with refills.

                  Re: Penelope Stopped Working

Well, I returned to actually pay for this event LT. I had previously left the game for an extended break after too many months of developer money grabs and poor customer service. While this Penelope change might not be the biggest deal to some (or honestly even to me), the issue I see is that the devs just don't ever seem to learn from the history of past mistakes. They might have good intentions, but these inopportune changes come across wrong. Last time I wrote the devs, their auto reply replied to me "dear gmail", despite having shared my name. What kind of customer support is that?

I couldn't have said it any better. Nowadays I read some posts and smh because not all folks can be reasoned with. Alot of stuff that happens in game has reason for us to be angry but expressing that anger in a non constructive way wont achieve anything. I have my way of dealing with alot of stuff in game i dont like and others have theirs. We are all entitled to our opinion but some take matters to another level.

Kabaam Staff will be online today. Should staff be online on weekends? I believe they should have someone at least (i have grow tired of fighting that battle over the years ). When they do get online today, I can only hope they will be able to comment on this topic.

                      Hello,

We were aware of the Penelope fix and did the fix intentionally. It is unfortunate that her behavior was fixed during the event, but to restore the game and event balance, it had to happen right away.

Previously, we have done the following to try to speed up the leveling pace for all players:
                      - Reduce energy/stamina regeneration timer from 5min to 3min
                      - Black market LTs such as Joaquin, Gunner and Charon.
                      - Add XP per token spend in EvE.
                      - Gold/Silver jobs to increase all players base stats.

While doing these updates, we tried our best to speculate the outcomes and potential loopholes. Unfortunately, we can't know everything before they happens. We noticed with the combination of Penelope rounding up bug, which was not a big problem before, and the recent Gold/Silver job releasing, some full energy build started to gain unfair advantage in Casino Event because the base stats they recently gained from those new jobs can help them do infinite leveling within certain level range. This was not intended by design, and will harm the competition in Casino Event. So we picked the least harmful way to fix/mitigate this.

After the fix, Penelope works exactly the same as her description says. Meaning if you have 1% XP bonus on 10 XP, that's 10.1 XP, there will be 90% chance system give you 10 XP and 10% chance 11 XP. We have been using this rounding algorithm in many places that require a lot of energy such as challenge jobs.

To make up for the Penelope's actual power decrease, we decide to add an additional power to her, which is 2 to 10 energy timer decrease based on stars. Please allow the developers to work on it and release later this week.

Thank you for your understanding. We aim to make UE a better and more balanced game.

Update appreciated, Eevee. I almost never use Penelope for anything in game but glad to know she was updated due to balance been required in game. Hopefully, future updates to lts will be made known to the player base as soon as they are made and the reasons why so as to avoid issues like this. Thanks.

Penelope's description is +1% job xp. This is totally different to 10% chance to give +1% job xp.

This has got nothing to do with balance. How are you going to balance the game for how weak our builds are because we chose to build it in such a way that we can level up much quicker and for less money.. The answer is you're not.. There is no balance there.. The only reason why you have done this is because revenues are not as great as they were as a result and you probably had a few big spenders complaining. Its never been a balance problem/bug before now so why is it a problem now? If it was bug before now, how come you haven't picked up on it over the last 3 years?

At least give us the truth instead of lying to our faces. I'd prefer it if you held your hands up and said yeah OK it is because it is hitting us in the pocket rather than lie. Customers can then choose to accept it or walk away from the truth rather than being pushed away with another lie.
