  • Weekend Boss Events

So with the success of the Million Man Boss events coupled with the amount of people that say the events last too long I wanted to throw out a suggestion. General consensus after events is generally positive from everyone I deal with but one thing I've noticed from my own perspective and that of others is that people get burned out after week + long events. While I don't think they should be done away with in any way shape or form I think some small things in between to keep interest and offer some incentive to players would be nice.

    Alpha has Struck!
Click her to join the fight

Alpha is just an example but I propose something along the lines of a 24-72 Hour boss fight for particular holidays, historical events or just a weekend fight.

Players would opt in to the fight through a banner on the main screen and then given the opportunity to drop their stamina and kick some tail. In this example I will use a 24 hour timer to fight a single boss, Alpha. Rather than having a health bar the boss would work strictly on a timer and would just be damage dealt based on stamina used. Players would be rewarded based on the damage they dealt during the boss fight timer, this would be collected after the timer expires like any other boss fight.

The rewards would be given similar to the following.
I'm just using generic numbers to show progression and are individual numbers.
(This is a work in progress, but I want to get it out there)

The item drops would also include tech lab drops as well (gun parts, lasers, contracts and other parts)

Damage Common drops Uncommon drops Rare Drops Epic Drops Class Coins Special
    1000 1
    2500 1 1 10cc
    5000 2 1
    7500 2 1 10cc 1 Scratcher
    10,000 2 1 1 +5 SP
    15,000
    20,000
    25,000
    2 2 2 2 25cc Uncommon LT
    30,000
    35,000
    40,000
    2 2 2 2 LT Specific Item (i.e. Pains Rifle)
    50,000 2 2 2 2 25cc +5 SP
    60,000
    75,000
    2 2 2 2 1x ea refill
    2 scratcher
    90,000 3 3 3 3 Rare: Alpha's Bandana
    100,000 5 5 5 5 100cc 1x Alpha
I think this would be something fun to do once and a while and would take out of play all the Anson hunters and people can just hit as they please or skip if they just don't care.

A way to follow this up is down the road another boss can be scheduled and called Alpha's Revenge, this boss could be focused again on Alpha but with more henchmen to hit. So it would either cycle through the different artwork as the timer progresses (again no health bar) or their could now be multiple henchmen on the screen at once with different classes since classes get bonuses when hitting the opposing class.

The options for this are limitless as it could encompass any current or future LT.

    Bonus:
This could be a way of introducing new black market LT. Rather than just releasing to the black market have a boss pop up that IS the black market LT and as you progress through the tiers you can be rewarded (eventually) with 1 copy of that LT and particular pieces of gear that benefit that LT. After the mini event that LT would then be purchasable as they currently are. Be a nice new twist to the whole process. Very curious to see your feedback. I will keep updating this thread as I come up with other things (little pressed for time at the moment)

I know what gave you this idea.

It is a cracking idea, the bonus idea especially I really like......a bit more depth and immersion in the game if anything .

I would love this. Like a weekly boss raid.

Can be further included to be limited to each empire to tackle alone. Empires contribute game money and articles like empire upgrade items and can summon boss every Friday with a weekend timer. Boss "dies" after timer expires. Dmg determines rewards. People with best activity get the prizes accordingly. Think it would push people to start becoming active and remove dead wood inactive accounts. Empire rank tier can determine rewards and difficulty. Higher tiers higher and better the rewards along with boss difficulty.

I also like this idea a lot and we've bounced around similar ideas in the past. No promises, but these are the kinds of ideas that we're more likely to implement in the long run.

Great idea. If implemented, please remove the omakazes and bubba drops ( i doubt i am the only one sick of them ). Diamonds& Gold bars that only drop from daily achievements and other tech lab ingredients would be much preferable as drops.

                      Re: Weekend Boss Events

I couldn't agree more Chelsea, that's why I just listed # of drops so that tech items such as those could be given as well.

currently my table is showing a row for each threshold but certain rows could be combined to obtain a certain tier of rewards.

I really like Mist's idea of the empire being able to summon the boss each weekend, my only concern would be I this may cause even further separation from the current top tier empires in UE as the all would be piling into those empires to reap the benefits of the bosses. Not that the gap would really ever close in but I feel that may make it worse.

If we could move towards something like this it could even replace MMB or at least change it up. Example: If we have one of these weekend, or one day, boss fights each month, then every 6 months could be a bigger boss event that spans the entire week, much like MMB. This larger event would then incorporate the community rewards as well.

Let's talk about this a little more.

What do you think, any other ideas to add too or take away?

This is a ridiculously great idea for the game and one the Devs should look to implement from my perspective ( Yea, PvP folks are getting their update soon. EvE has had a bunch of changes, about damn time we boss hunters{all i care for in UE} also get some needed love ) to get players like me more into the game. I need something personally to wake me up from the nightmare of last MMB. I still see bubbas and omakazes in my dreams.
