  • Feedback

    Hi there developers,

Some feedback from a loyal player (4 years now):

    - Try to perfect the game before increasing its complexity and intensity by adding completely new features such as the sidekick feature. I think its a fairly good feature but I also think other small problems deserve your attention first (bug fixes and design!). In order to attract (and also to keep!) more players, the game design, interface and interaction needs to be super professional.

Some things that come to mind: (Note: iOS)

    > Button: Return button does not always work. Especially annoying in Empire War, requires you to reroute in order to access main menu again.
    > Battle: Not all player ranks reset properly after end of the month.
    > Empire War: Sometimes does not auto-collect before a new war starts.
    > Empire War: A bug may sometimes occur (it is some kind of lag) allowing players to spam attacks faster than intended (up to 3 attacks per second or so).
    > Chat: Some messages do not show in messages menu after sending them (requiring you to find the player again, uncertain if message is actually sent).
    > Chat: Messages have no clear expiration date. Some disappear fast, others stay for a long time.
    > News feed: When no category is selected, newsfeed is chronological but many reports seem to randomly disappear from this feed.
    > News feed: When selecting battle category some battle statistics seem to randomly disappear from the newsfeed.
    > News feed: When selecting social category a random selection of reports shows up (some from 1d ago, others 500d ago).
    > Design: Please improve the design of the following sections: Leaderboard, Hunting Range and Allies! This is a serious problem, it looks very unprofessional!!

    Content suggestion
: Money; Instead of designing complete new sections, expand already existing features. Money seems to be absolutely useless late game. After building upgrades and insignia upgrades there is nothing to spend it on.

Example: 10PM on Saturday night the "Underworld Casino" starts a ticketsale lasting untill 12PM (2 hours), allowing all players to buy an exclusive "Underworld Casino Ticket" for 200 million (yes, it is pretty exclusive). When bought, the player will have access to the Underworld Casino during the next Sunday from 10AM to 10PM, allowing them to play various mini games (poker, blackjack, could be anything, but should be competing against other players) against other players that have entered that Sunday. The mini games or some kind of leaderboard should point out one or more winners of the Underworld Casino at closing time (10PM), and these players will receive a unique reward (doesn't have to be an item that gives att/def, it could be a special skin for a lieutenant).

Content suggestion: Reputation; Do something with the reputations. Faction reputation points are useless when a player has acquired 6000 (the current max) of them, yet bosses keep yielding them after that. Add functions to this content.

Suggestion: Reduce the amount of small events (like Job heists and all that), it has been an overkill of those lately. Events have started to bore me because of their frequency, which is a real shame because the larger events can be a lot of fun as long as they stay unique and do not occur too often.

Advice: Know your playerbase and cherish your most loyal players by sticking to the core game mechanics that attracted them in the first place. They are still here because those core game mechanics never changed too much. It is still a grind game and new players should not be able to achieve in a few months what older players only managed to achieved in years.

Next to this, I think you devs have been doing a good job lately. So please consider this as constructive criticism, as I am still very much enjoying this game and want to keep it this way. Thank you for reading..

I nodded my head as I was reading to pretty much all of the above. Very eloquently written and on point.

        Re: Feedback

        Hi Duke,

Good to see you are reading these kind of threads. I just wanted to add that I noticed you acknowledging the warlog section of the game to be still very buggy (small bugs though) in another thread. According to you there is not enough time for the developers to address these bugs. I understand that the resources the developers and GAEA team have must be spent carefully and development has to be prioritized. However, I personally think that the game will gain significantly more traction if those resources are being spent on perfecting these small imperfections first, before proceeding to the creation of new content. From my point of view adding more content to a game that is already fairly complicated (and in some ways a bit rusty) will overcomplicate things, especially for new players and might scare them away.

I would also like to add that the navigation process within the game may require an update. I noticed Warplay talking about this in the same thread I referred to in the above alinea and I thought it was excellent feedback. For example UWE has no swipe (left or right) functions yet for certain menu's. This could be a huge improvement in some of the game sections whereas it would be much less time-consuming to navigate through the game.

Just wanted to clarify this as it is basically the key element of my feedback. I personally wouldn't mind if no content was released for a while if this enables the developers to work on other things (design, game navigation, smoothness, clear descriptions and well composed menu's). After working on this you can start making new connections between game content, and eventually you can work on new content. This may seem like a lot of work but I expect the playerbase to grow significantly when the game interface is updated entirely. For idea's I would suggest you check out the mobile app game 'Clash Royale'. It is currently one of the most popular mobile app games and their development team seems to constantly work on modernizing and updating their game interface.

Example: Clash Royale is a game based on card collecting. When composing a deck to use in order to fight players have to scroll through their collection and select a number of cards to use. The same interface that Clash Royale uses for players to interact with their card collection could for example be used on UWE's lieutenant section. I would have added some pictures to clarify what mechanics of Clash Royale I actually mean, but unfortunately I can't get the upload of the images to work so I really suggest you developers have a look at it some day (could be seriously inspiring!).

Another thing I wanted to say is about the leaderboards and ranking systems. Many gamers are attracted to the idea that they can show off their achievements and strengths. The gamecenter thing has been broken forever now and might disappear in the near future so I guess you should work on introducing another kind of general ranking that is accessable to all players. How about making the achievements section public instead of private for every player, allowing players to inspect each others achievements? Things like that would be great because player would be able to compare their toons to others.

Alright thats enough for now.. Hope you guys are inspired by my words. Good luck on processing this!

        Again thanks for reading.

          I would love a swipe-to-navigate system.

Otherwise there are several very strong points made here - good thread

            Re: Feedback

The one thing I’m not sure about is the idea to do ticket sales that only last 2 hours because I feel that would exclude too many players. It would fall during the middle of the night for some players and at inconvenient times for others but I do agree that something needs to be done to make money less useless in the late game.

I’m not sure how much the devs play the game or if they consult with players when making changes but I think it could be really useful for them to get regular feedback from the community because I would imagine the priorities of a dev who may not have the time to play the game much may not be the same as the priorities as a veteran player even though we both more or less want the same thing - for the game to be as good as possible.
