Re: Simple question....is reaper still worth all the work?

Guido, question for you...what is your primary goal in EvE? Damage, killing, points...what?

Reason I ask is because I don't want to give you bum advice. I myself unlocked Terminator first, will skip that for now since you aren't considering then unlocked Reaper. I had played Sin and loved it and thought Reaper would be a Sin on steroids. Got Reaper to lvl 5 and realized it just wasn't packing a punch and outside of a few handy skills (impale is always nice as an instant win dead or alive) and plague which helps take down high health players faster as everyone hits there wasn't much else. Bloodlust is fine but pales in comparison to power shot. As UE nerfed some skills...ok they actually eliminated them completely with the splash change to destroy Ambush, I went looking for something else.

Finally I switched to Ghost just over a month ago I think and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the class!! You are an absolute killing machine with Ghost and I easily have as many kills with Ghost as I did with Reaper when power shot fires you light people up. I regularly have 2k+ damage shots and when you put in the right LT's you can get even more bonus and benefits from crits firing. I can use Frank & Layla to replace the benefit of the tk from Ambush but even without that the hits are good enough to blow away a Reaper. It is always nice to have someone impale or guaranteed cap someone during a war but Sin is much more reliable for cap. I like piercing shot for armor and use Ghost Tag first before taking down a high health toon.

Part of this will depend on your individual stats but I have seen very low lvl players score huge hits with Ghost. I don't think you will be sorry if you decide to switch.

I've switched back to Assassin and I have a lot more fun. I also love Assassin. I sincerely believe Assassin should be the upgrade from Reaper, not the other way around . It's a much more complex class giving you a lot of possibilities to help your empire.

Now I am waiting to get 10k CCs to open Ghost. I can say I've lost few months and loads of CCs investing in the wrong direction

Dude chill out. I posted this over 2 weeks ago. You're also not refuting any point I made. You're just trying to discredit me, without making any arguments. Why are you trying to start another flame war? Let it go, bro.

Ghost is a great class. Reaper too, just depends on the type of player you are.

            Be easy y'all

Re: Simple question....is reaper still worth all the work?

It seems I've ruffled a few feathers, so now that It's been a little over 2 weeks since the splash change and I'm not so sick of all the complaining anymore, maybe I can be a little kinder and smooth things over.

Ghost is indeed a great class. It was designed to deal really big damage. The issue is that to do it you have to win. If you take a defeat, you're ish out of luck. This is why ideally, the strongest attackers in your empire should be Ghosts. They deal massive damage, but are very vulnerable, and are straight-up attackers. This means there's no sideways advantage to help you win. You either win and do big damage or lose and take big damage. Ghosts/Snipers have always had the greater offensive responsibilities in an empire. Win or lose, ghosts/snipers are expected to be the main attackers and bring down opponents' health to decap range. That's the main responsibility, as I've always understood it, of the sniper/ghost class. If you're a straight-up attacker, you should be sniper/ghost. Being sniper is really beneficial if you're a mid-to-low strength attacker in your empire. If you're a top dog in your crew, you should probably go ghost.

Reaper is more of a sideways class. It doesn't do as much damage, but, like assassin before it, it has all these little neat tricks that let it win when it shouldn't. You still have to have some strength, but not nearly as much as ghost. You can choose to be more strategic, "sneaky," and sort of pick your spots. Increasing attack, dealing more damage when dead, diminishing opponents' chance skills, these are the kinds of sneaky things that reapers do. Extra tokens, too, but I never thought of that as the main focus of the class, which is why I had such a negative reaction to all the complaining about the splash change. To me it seemed like ambush really shouldn't be the main focus of a class. There are so many other good things about the reaper class, seriously, y'all, I'm not just saying this to be a douche. Precise Blade alone is an incredible skill. I understand you all feeling a certain way about a skill's effectiveness being changed a bit - I probably would be miffed too if Dodging Spree was affected somehow - but I also think that saying the whole class has been made completely useless is going overboard.

Both classes are really very good. I am a ghost because I have always taken the responsibility of taking down the opposing empire's biggest defenders, win or lose. That's who I am, I attack. There are others who prefer to take as few losses as possible and like having a different kind of advantage, and still want to help the team. There are many different ways of playing the game.

To be clear, I'm not saying reapers can't be main attackers. The game is designed so that you can take the path you want, build-wise, and play it however you want. I understand Ambush was affected, but let's be fair - it was not completely eliminated, and it's not the only skill that makes it worth it having reaper
